Hi! I'm Sue and I have been a nurse at Valley Medical Center for 11 years. The reason I am involved with TurningWheels For Kids is because I believe in a kid's right to be happy, I believe I can make a difference, and I believe the unachievable can be achieved. I hope you believe it too. It takes a "village".

I am a nurse working at Valley Medical Center in San Jose. TurningWheels for Kids is important to me because I know what it is like to be a disadvantaged kid. Coming from a family on nine kids, if it were not for the generosity and kindness of caring individuals in the community, we would have never had a Christmas. If I can in some small way give back to the community and perhaps make a difference in a child's life, I want to do it.

I'm a small automotive business owner of more than 25 years a native of San Jose and father of four wonderful children. I have been, and still am, very involved with the needs of youth in the Santa Clara County area. I love the outdoor active sport life. As my father used to tell me, "Go outside and play!" What a wonderful way to improve a child's life.

I have been working on the web and involved in web design for 10 years now. I wanted to get involved with this effort from the moment it was brought to my attention. It struck such a warm spot in my heart. I still remember one of my first bikes, it was a blue Diamondback. I was so proud to ride it around town and let people see my NEW bike. In my mind, the greatest adventures as a child all started with a bike ride.

I am a 33 year old stay at home mom who lives in the Almaden Valley of San Jose. I wake every day to see the smiles on the faces of my little boys, Jakob and Colby. I am blessed to be their mom and lucky to be a witness to them growing up. I am completely committed to the TurningWheels cause. Through the eyes and the smiles of my own children, I relish the opportunity to put a sparkle in the eye and smile on the face of every child we serve. Join our mission, its infectious!

Hi. As a bicycling enthusiast and a guy who really likes kids, I immediately saw the value in the concept of TurningWheels For Kids. I have learned to appreciate each day and seek out opportunities to make a difference. Then I heard my buddy DJ, who's a really great kid, was a member of this group and I thought if DJ's in - I'm in!!!

I am a San Jose native, wife, mother and grandmother. I am also a registered nurse working at VMC for the past 25 years. TWFK is close to my heart because as a child, I too was a recipient of someone's kindness in the form of a donated Christmas bike. To this day, it remains as one of my best Christmas memories.
John O'Brien
I'm the Assistant Chief of Security at VMC and retired from Law Enforcement. Over the years I have seen the difference positive social and physical activity makes in the lives of children. From my own childhood, I remember a majority of social events either involved or were enabled by the use of a bike. For that reason, I'd like to make sure no kid misses the chance and joy of having and doing things on a bike. What better time to do it than during the Holidays!!

Green Stingray. Yep, I still remember my first bike. How many of us take it for granted every kid grows up with a bike? Doesn’t happen; I believe every kid should have a bike. I became involved with TWFK to help make riding a bike a reality for as many kids as possible. Riding a bike is one of the things I love, whether to the coffee bar with my family, or a long solo ride in the quiet peace of the countryside. I am a small business owner, and between that and my family I keep busy. But, I need to do something more. I want to give back to the local community. By working with TurningWheels For Kids I feel I can have an immediate and important impact on children’s lives here in Silicon Valley.

My name is Dennis John after my two grandfather's and I go by DJ. I helped last year take bikes to the Fire Dept and I asked my grandma if I could help again next year. So now, it's my job to mobilize my school to join the TurningWheels vision. I think about it all the time and it's a lot of fun!!!!
